About Us:

Although we may joke about our Motto:"We've Never Lost A Foundation", we deffinately do not joke about fire protection. The Culleoka Rural Fire Department currently has over 25 active volunteer members.
Recognized as Station 3 with the Maury Rural Fire Department, we are equipped
with a Class A Pumper, along with a new 2000 Gallon Tanker, for fighting structure
fires. We have a Brush Truck for fighting grass and smaller fires. The newly
acquired Rescue Truck has tools (Jaws of Life) on board for life saving
extrications. It is also equipped with a foam unit that allows for a quick and environmentally
safe means of extinguishing car and other highly volatile fires. A support
truck transports other tools needed for fighting fires. Our coverage area is
generally a 5-mile radius from downtown Culleoka, but we do offer mutual aid to
other departments when needed.

We currently have an ISO rating of 5/9. Meaning if you live within 1000 ft. of a fire hydrant you have a rating of 5, while everyone else has a 9. These ratings are very important to our community, for it could mean lower insurance premiums, especially if you have a 5 rating. Even the 9 rating can be a big help, cause up until a few years ago, our community was a 10. This meant we virtually had no fire protection at all and insurance premiums were higher. As the community continues to grow, so are we. Our dept. is researching the possibilities of lowering those ratings once again, and with some hard work, our community could see even lower premiums in the future. You can read a Daily Herald Article about when Maury Rural Fire lowered its ISO rating last year on Maury Rural Fire's website at:http://www.maurycountyfire.org/
